Romantic but not sugary

Here we see a project of apartment, about 72 square meters, designed for a girl in Moscow, in the residential complex " Elk Island ".
The apartment consists of entrance hall, small hall and living room (with kitchenette ) characterized by a surprising choice of colors for painting walls and doors: a bright purple combined with the white.
On the floor there is a light parquet herringbone, colored on the front of the kitchen, while in the hallway (like in the bathroom) was chosen a classic checkerboard floor.
The project includes a palette of soft, soothing colors for the bedroom, in shades of white, gray and pastel pink.
The designers claim to have sought a combination of classic reinterpreted in a contemporary key, it seems to me that the result is a romantic but not sugary apartment, suitable for a dreamer but also modern girl.

An extension project in London
The designer is inevitably at a crossroads: do an intervention "mimetic " that is confused with the pre-existence or, using a contemporary language, to create an "extension " that it reads like something added, trying to find a harmonious balance with the original building.

The Giles Pike Architects in London ( led by Tom Pike and Matthew Giles ) specializes in the design of residential buildings of high quality, especially in interior renovations and in extension project, making use of large glass surfaces.

In this Victorian-style home of Salcott road, in the district of Battersea in London, have designed a contemporary wing that increases the surface is at the ground floor and at first floor .

The two levels are separated by a continuous band of glass, which gives character to the side wall of bricks and allows diffusion of continuous light throughout the living area.

Entirely of glass are then the two ends of enlargement and a part of the roof. The steel beam accentuates the contemporary.

The interior with light wood floors and white walls further expand the space, as if to emphasize the results obtained with the expansion in terms of the increase in surface area.

Since 2001 he works in London where first he founded the  "Ebba Thott design" and in 2004, with the expert furnishing of the twentieth century Nina Hertig, the Sigmar, which offers interior design and provides furniture and accessories.
The stated goal is to create personal environments that have a soul, combining contemporary style with traditional elements.
The origins of Ebba transpire in love for natural materials, and in particular for the wood, and aspiration, which inherits from the Scandinavian tradition, of combining beauty and functionality.
It has created an exclusive collection of sophisticated colors (Damo), which provides "proof of the passage of time".
Let's take a tour of this apartment in Notting Hill where the client's request was to create environments with a vague vibe of the '30s.

For some time I do not write a post, but for a good reason; I spent a long(but to me it seemed very short)weekend in Paris.
And since I am excited about this city and its inhabitants, I will share with you what impressed me the most.
I chose to stay in one of my favorite neighborhoods, Le Marais, so I leave from here to take a short tour.
Obviously one of the most famous is the Pompidou Centre and adjacent spaces with fun sculptures Stravinsky Fountain (Fontaine des Automates).

L'architettura è una forma di conoscenza
The architecture is a form of knowledge

The background is from the church of Saint Merri in pleasant contrast with the large mural painted on the wall of an adjacent building.

In the nearby Rue Saint Croix de la de la Bretonnerie there is a series of furniture stores and household items (such as Fleux), where I spent a whole day; Here you can find all the news and all sorts of curious objects and fun.

About  the restaurants  I found it very pleasant and cool The Eventail, on Boulevard Voltaire, where you can have breakfast (excellent cappuccinos, and baguette with butter and jam) but also dine and where to end the day with something  to drink (it is open until 2.00 am).

Moving on to another area of the city, Champes Elysees, look how interesting the external design of the exhibition dedicated to Emperor Augustus at the Grand Palais ... (a little 'of Italy also here).

Then I spent a few hours at the Orangerie, interesting architecture, which has undergone several changes over time, as well as a place where you can admire the cycle of water lilies by Claude Monet and many other works of painters like Cezanne, Modigliani, Picasso, collected by the art dealer Paul Guillaume.

It will be because we are in May but I found Paris invaded by flowers, especially roses:  in the hyper chic Costes Dani Roses store on Rue Saint Honoré and in the  Market Place d'Aligre.
But what struck me most is that many Parisians Saturday night were carrying bunches of flowers ...

Finally as to pay tribute to Madame Eiffel Tower which this year celebrates 125 years (beautifully brought) and the futuristic view of Defance.

No doubt about it .... I was literally haunted by this city.
