Dell'architetto e designer India Mahdavi ho già scritto qui. Di "Alice nel paese delle Meraviglie" e di come, a distanza di 150 anni dalla sua pubblicazione, ancora oggi sia uno tra i libri più letti oltre che una fonte d'ispirazione per l'arredamento ho parlato qui.
Oggi voglio raccontarvi di come India ha interpretato il mondo di Alice nella VitraHaus di Weil am Rhein (nell'edificio dell'azienda Vitra progettato da Herzog & de Meuron) utilizzando pezzi classici come il Freeform Sofa e contemporanei come il Mariposa Sofa prodotti dall'azienda svizzera.
La designer ha scelto di rappresentare il meraviglioso mondo di Alice utilizzando il rosa come tinta dominante ed affiancando i pezzi di design con oggetti "fuori scala" come una gigantesca teiera all'interno della quale ci si può accomodare, o come le minuscole sedie e poltrone (miniature di prodotti di Vitra) sparse sul terrazzo. Elefanti (Eames), conigli, enormi girasoli, citazioni dal libro alle pareti, e le nuvole di Frank O' Gehry (Cloud di Belux) completano la scena contribuendo a creare un'atmosfera da sogno.

India and the wonderful world of Alice
I've already written here about the architect and designer India Mahdavi . I have talked here about "Alice in Wonderland" and how, 150 years after its publication, still is one of the most widely read books, and an inspiration for decoration.
Today I want to tell you about how India Mahdavi has interpreted the world of Alice in the VitraHaus in Weil am Rhein (in the building of the company Vitra designed by Herzog & de Meuron) using classical pieces such as Freeform Sofa and contemporary as the Mariposa Sofa, produced by the company Switzerland.
The designer chose to represent the wonderful world of Alice using the pink color as the dominant hue and puting alongside the designer pieces with objects "out of scale" like a giant tea pot in which you can sit, or how the tiny chairs and armchairs (miniatures of Vitra products) scattered on the terrace. Elephants (Eames), rabbits, huge sunflowers, and quotes from the book on the walls complete the scene helping to create a dreamlike atmosphere.
