A Polignano a Mare, ad esempio, splendido borgo a picco sul mare, in un negozio proprio a ridosso della porta di accesso al centro storico, che attrae i turisti per le belle ceramiche colorate, ho comprato un piccolo riccio bianco realizzato a Grottaglie. Sarà perfetto sulla mia cassettiera.

A Lecce invece da Artègo (artigianato creativo), un luogo tra laboratorio di design e galleria espositiva, piacevole da visitare e pieno di oggetti che esprimono grande creatività, ho comprato due piccole ciotole create dai due titolari Oronzo e Gianfranco; per mia figlia, una simpatica "massaia salentina" di Maria Gabriella Epifani, che rappresenta con ironia l'immagine tradizionale della donna del sud e del suo ruolo centrale nella famiglia.
In Lecce at Artègo (artigianato creativo), a place between design workshop and exhibition gallery, pleasant to visit and full of objects that express creativity, I bought two small bowls created by the owners Oronzo and Gianfranco; for my daughter, a nice "housewife of Salento" by Maria Gabriella Epifani.She shows ironically the traditional image of women in the south and its central role in the family.
Sempre a Lecce, patria della cartapesta (c'è anche un interessante museo dedicato a quest'arte) nella "Bottega del Piccolo Artigianato" ho acquistato un angelo realizzato dai due titolari, simpatici coniugi che amano mostrare le loro creazioni, e parlano con orgoglio dei propri lavori commissionati da personaggi noti.

Da Corrado Marazia, ricami a mano, oltre a comprare un centrotavola ricamato con cui penso che realizzerò un grande cuscino, mi sono soffermata a parlare con il titolare, che mi ha mostrato molte delle preziose creazioni e trasmesso un po' della passione che mette nei suoi lavori, avventurandosi talvolta in sperimentazioni tra tradizione ed innovazione.

Ma il luogo più magico in cui sono entrata è la bottega d'arte del Professor Mario Di Donfrancesco, che dirige il laboratorio di statuaria sacra e restauro della cartapesta, dove il tempo sembra essersi fermato ed è possibile ammirare delle vere e proprie opere d'arte e lo stesso professore al lavoro.
Un viaggio è anche questo, parlare con chi vive e lavora sul posto, e perché no, riportare a casa qualcosa che ci ricordi luoghi e persone.
But the most magical place in which I entered is the art studio of Professor Mario Di Donfrancesco; he directs the laboratory of sacred statuary and restoration of papier mache, where time seems to stand still and you can admire a lot of works of art and the professor himself while working.
A trip is also this, talk to those who live and work on site, and why not, take home something to remind us of places and people.
