Viaggio in Italia

Talvolta noi Italiani sembriamo sopravvalutarci, spesso, invece, ci sminuiamo eccessivamente; insomma difficilmente riusciamo ad avere di noi stessi, intendo come popolo, una visione equilibrata.

Può accadere però di scoprire, casualmente, di essere l'oggetto di una fantastica dichiarazione d'amore, che ci riempie di orgoglio e ci ricorda, senza retorica, che qualcuno di noi qualcosa di eccezionale lo ha fatto e continua a farlo davvero.

Questa dichiarazione d'amore l'ha fatta The Conran Shop con la collezione primavera estate 2015 Italia "un viaggio attraverso l'Italia, dalla capitale del design Milano, ai verdi paesaggi della Toscana, alla Costiera Amalfitana, fino in Puglia, Sicilia e Sardegna"

Un omaggio ai designer Italiani da Vico Magistretti a Paola Navone, da Gio Ponti ad Achille Castiglioni e molti altri ancora.

Come un viaggio nel Bel Paese. Godiamocelo tutto.

A journey through Italy
Sometimes the Italians seem to overestimate themselves, often they diminish excessively; hardly we can have of ourselves, I mean as a people, a balanced view.
It may happen, however, to discover, by chance, to be the subject of a great declaration of love, which fills us with pride and reminds us, without rhetoric, that some of us has done something exceptional (and continues to do it).

The Conran Shop has made this declaration of love with the spring summer collection 2015 Italia, "a journey through Italy, starting in the design capital of Milan, heading south to the verdant landscapes of Tuscany, then meandering past the Amalfi Coast finally arriving in Puglia, Sicily and Sardinia."

A tribute to the Italian designers Vico Magistretti Paola Navone, from Gio Ponti to Achille Castiglioni and many more.
Like a trip in the Bel Paese. Let us enjoy it all.

Il loft col patio a Saint Ouen, Parigi

Karine Simonot e Stèphanie Maigret, titolari dello studio di progettazione d'interni MOC hanno curato la realizzazione di questo loft in una ex officina di carrozzeria costruita nel 1919 a Saint Ouen, Parigi.

Le due progettiste si trovano a dover risolvere un problema fondamentale: la mancanza di sufficienti aperture sulle pareti perimetrali ad eccezione di una piccola finestra e della grande serranda di accesso alla vecchia carrozzeria, entrambe con affaccio diretto sulla strada.

Karin e Sthephanie hanno così l'idea di eliminare una porzione di copertura realizzando un patio a cielo aperto; uno spazio gradevole, circondato da vetrate attraverso cui dare luce ed aria ai nuovi ambienti.

Dalla parte opposta realizzano un cubo vetrato per schermare l'entrata originaria su strada, e su di esso realizzano uno dei due "office" (l'altro, cui si accede mediante una scala a chiocciola, si trova sul volume che racchiude la camera da letto ed il bagno).

Il resto dello spazio, con le grandi capriate bianche lasciate a vista, ospita la zona giorno, illuminata dalle nuove grandi vetrate e dalla luce zenitale che entra dai lucernari.

L'arredo è informale e ben si adatta allo spirito industriale del loft.

La luce non manca, lo spazio neanche, ed io trovo geniale l'idea del patio.

The loft with patio in Saint Ouen, Paris

Karine Simonot and Stephanie Maigret, of the agency MOC, have managed the implementation of this loft in a former factory bodywork built in 1919 at Sait Ouen, Paris.

The two "Miss Moc" are having to solve a fundamental problem: the lack of sufficient openings on the perimeter walls, except for a small window and for the great gate of access to the old workshop, both directly facing the street.

So Karin and Sthephanie have the idea of eliminating a portion of the cover, creating an open patio; a space pleasant, surrounded by windows through which to give light and air to new environments.

On the other side of the building, They realize a glass cube to shield the original damper on the road; To the top of it there is one of the two office (the other, which is accessed by a spiral staircase, is located on the volume that contains the bedroom and the bathroom).

The rest of the space, with large white trusses left visible, houses the living area, lit by new large windows and overhead light that enters from the skylights.

The decor is casual and well suited to the the industrial spirit of the loft.

The light does not fail ,also the space , and I find brilliant the idea of the patio.

Not bad for an old workshop!

Design scandinavo per l'SP34

Se pensate di trascorrere qualche giorno a Copenhagen, prendete in considerazione di alloggiare in un hotel in puro stile scandinavo, i cui interni sono stati curati da Morten Hedegaard: l'SP34.

Si trova nel vecchio quartiere latino, tra negozi e ristoranti di tendenza, ed è stato arredato con pezzi di design locale e materiali naturali come il legno, il cuoio, la ceramica e l'ottone.

I colori neutri o "spenti" come il rosa polvere, l'avio, il caramello ed il grigio ammorbidiscono la luce che entra dalle grandi finestre e dai lucernari, creando una piacevole atmosfera rilassata.

Posto di onore, per un oggetto simbolo della Danimarca: una bicicletta.

If you plan to spend a few days in Copenhagen, consider staying in a hotel in pure Scandinavian style, whose interiors have been cured by Morten Hedegaard: the SP34.
It is located in the old Latin Quarter, between shops and trendy restaurants, and has been furnished with pieces of local design, natural materials such as wood, leather, ceramics and brass.
Neutral or dull colors like pink powder, the aviation, the caramel and gray soften the light from the large windows and skylights, creating a pleasant atmosphere.
Place of honor, for an object symbol of Denmark: a bicycle.

La voce silente del sughero

L'idea di parlarvi del sughero nasce in occasione della presentazione (all' Ett Hem di Stoccolma) della collezione di mobili ed oggetti, disegnata da Ilse Crawford per Ikea, e caratterizzata dall'utilizzo di questo materiale associato ad altre fibre naturali.

Ecologico, leggero, isolante termicamente ed acusticamente, flessibile, resistente e riciclabile il sughero, epidermide delle piante legnose, ha moltissime qualità ed è diffuso in Italia e più in generale nell'area Mediterranea.

E pensate che per produrre un tappo da vino, dalla semina alla prima decortica utile, occorrono ben 43 anni, e questo processo delicato e antico può ripetersi, nella stessa pianta, solo dopo nove anni.

Oggi però che i tappi da vino non sono quasi più realizzati in sughero è fondamentale, per salvare le sugherete, importanti habitat ecologici per la biodiversità, trovarne nuovi utilizzi.

E, come dimostra la collezione di Ilse Crawford, ma anche il lavoro di Daniel Michalik e di altri designer che hanno creduto nelle potenzialità del sughero, può dare origine ad oggetti semplici e belli.

Di una bellezza sussurrata, che definirei quasi silente.

The silent voice of cork

I had the idea to talk of the cork, reading about the presentation (to the Ett Hem in Stockholm) of furniture and object collection, designed by Ilse Crawford for Ikea, and characterized by the use of this material combined with other natural fibers.

Eco-friendly, lightweight, thermal and acoustic insulating, flexible, durable and recyclable, the cork, epidermis of woody plants, has many qualities and it is widespread in Italy and more generally in the Mediterranean.

To produce a cork from wine, from sowing to first flaying, it takes 43 years, and this delicate and old process, can be repeated, in the same plant, only every nine years.

However, today, that the wine closures are no longer made of cork is essential to save the cork wood, important ecological habitats for biodiversity,and find new uses.

And, as evidenced by the Ilse Crawford collection, but also the work of Daniel Michalik and other designers who have believed in the potential of cork, it can give rise to simple objects and beautiful. A beauty whispered, I would call almost silent.
