Ecce Home: Milano la bella

Tra i tanti aggettivi che pensavo si potessero usare per descrivere Milano (operosa, elegante, efficiente, signorile, snob, moderna ecc.) non avrei mai immaginato di associarle la parola "bella".

Eppure questo è il termine che mi è venuto in mente durante la mia recente visita lampo nel capoluogo lombardo.

Sono andata a Milano, forse un po' prevenuta, pensando che tutto questo gran parlare in termini positivi di questa città, fosse in parte legato alla necessità di attrarre pubblico all'Expo.

Devo ammettere invece di essere stata positivamente colpita, non solo dall'ordine, dalla pulizia, e dall'organizzazione, ma sopratutto dall'architettura, dall'impronta urbanistica, e dall'atmosfera veramente europea che vi si respira.

Ovviamente non è potuta mancare una visita nella zona di Porta Nuova dove grattacieli ed edifici di concezione contemporanea si intrecciano con orti urbani a disposizione dei cittadini, ampie strade a scorrimento veloce con piste ciclabili, edifici intensivi e spazi verdi.

Insomma devo ammetterlo, Milano mi è sembrata proprio bella.

The beautiful Milan
Among many adjectives that I thought you could use to describe Milan (industrious, smart, efficient, elegant, posh, modern etc.). I never thought to associate the word "beautiful".
Yet this is the term that came to my mind during my recent short visit in Milan.
I went to Milan, perhaps a bit biased, thinking that all this talk in positive terms of this city, was partly related to attracting the public at the Expo.
I must admit, however, that it has been positively affected, not only by the order, cleanliness, and the organization, but especially from architecture, urbanistic impression, and truly European atmosphere that you breathe.
Obviously we could not miss a visit in the Porta Nuova where skyscrapers and buildings of contemporary design are intertwined with urban gardens available to citizens, large fast roads with bike lanes, intensive buildings and green spaces.
So I have to admit, Milan is just beautiful.
