Vino e vintage in masseria

Vino, paesaggio, cultura e molto altro.

Wine and vintage farm
A "masseria" in the Valle d'Itria, Puglia, the result of the careful renovation of the owner, Francesco, lover of wine and of recovery of furniture and vintage items.
The family business manufactures machines for the production of wine and for some years the building was used as a guesthouse for the company's customers.
Francesco explains that he entrusted to "technicals" for the division of space but he had personally dedicated to the design of  interiors, researching pieces "used" in the markets and shops in the area, and given them new life by the workers, upholsterers, blacksmiths and carpenters (like the beautiful red sofa only paid 200 euro).
But especially Francesco has created beautiful objects, using recycled materials, like the very long and scenic table created from the staves of the barrels, used other  for the evenings of wine tasting.
The farm consists of a main building and a number of outbuildings including two trulli used as bedrooms. One of the suites instead as the lounges on the ground floor, has a beautiful vaulted ceiling in local stone.
The landscape all around and the typical Apulian countryside, with olive groves and fields of red earth contrasting with the blue sky, one step from the sea.
Wine, landscape, culture and much more.

Surprising Sicily : the salt pans of Trapani and Paceco
Sicily never ceases to surprise.
When you think you've caught all the salient characters, happens to discover that there is an aspect of this area that still you didn't know.
This is what I thought as soon as I found myself in front of the landscape of the Natural Reserve of salt pans of Trapani and Paceco
The salt marshes that extend along the coast for more than a thousand hectares, with its windmills and the chessboard formed by the collection tanks of salt, is an example of how human activities can coexist harmoniously with the natural landscape, transforming it ,  respecting it and  yet helping to create a suitable habitat to many animal species.
From there you can sail to reach, through the Stagnone, the island of Mozia, an ancient Phoenician colony, where an English nobleman, Giuseppe Whitaker, at the end of 800, he had built his house, now a museum.
Walking around the island let yourself be enraptured by the scent of history and the Mediterranean.
Back on the mainland you have to move away from the coast and watch the sunset over the lagoon.
Sicily is even this.
