Not just Bollywood in Santa Barbara
David and Leela are two photographers who like to travel; they love the East and particularly India.
So when they moved to Portland in this apartment in Santa Barbara, California, have sprinkled it with small objects that talk about their passion, like flashbacks of moments lived.
But between a Bollywood poster, and a statuette from Goa, it comes out a tray bought in Florence, a vintage armchair and even a piece of design as the chair Louis Ghost by Kartell, borrowed from Leela's mother.
Result? Not the usual ethnic style, but an apartment lively, cheerful and very spontaneous.
Sometimes creativity is not exhibition but you can express it discreetly through the little things.

Finalmente estate

Finalmente estate.
Rosso... estate.

At last summer.
What is the color that is most suited to this season? The red, of course.
Red of cherries, poppies and tomato (the "real"  naturally developed  under the rays of the sun.)
Red symbol of passion and energy.
And red of many outdoor furniture and navy-style ...
Red...summer.

Passato e presente a Marsiglia

Past and present in Marseille
He, Jean-Baptiste Moutte, fan of rock and of post-war objects, lovingly restores
original period furniture, in his laboratory not far from the old port of Marseille.
She, Virginie, in his showroom Relax Brulxelles Factory, equiped like an apartment, artfully exposes and sells them.
In Marseilles, the couple live in their apartment renovated in 1952, and since then left unchanged.
All the furniture has been carefully chosen during their journeys undertaken in search of rare items to meet the demands of their customers. Jean-Baptiste brought them  to second life with great skill, painting, nailing, replacing padding and upholstery, using short, all its know-how.
Everything even the kitchen is original. Yet the apartment is current: past and present converge to overlap.
Touches of green, yellow and blue on the walls reflect the colors of the collection of ceramics by Roger Capron exposed in the living room, and brighten up the apartment, satisfying the desire of the couple to feel always on holiday  when they are  in Marseille. And the light of the Mediterranean does its part.

An unconventional scandinavian interior
The Niels Christophersen apartment  in a historic buil of Ostebro, Copenhagen stands completely out from the idea that we have of the typical Scandinavian interior.
Niels had initially thought to  paint the walls white, to create a kind of canvas that would leave him free to express his creativity.
Then, fascinated by the atmosphere of the place, a former watch-making workshop, and its peeling paint, he decides to enhance its characteristics, creating environments from the imperfect and unfinished air, almost a manifesto of his philosophy that reminds the principles of wabi sabi.
Then he decorates the apartment by choosing between objects produced by Frama which he is founder and artistic directo; pieces from simple geometries and made with solid materials (stone, wood and metal).
Niels does not like to hide the natural look of things, so the materials express what they really are, the walls show the various layers, the water and electrical systems remain exposed.
The world is imperfect and only those who can grasp the beauty of imperfection captures the true essence.
Word of Niels.
