Una delle cose che mi danno maggiore soddisfazione è dare una seconda chance agli oggetti, in pratica una seconda vita, personalizzandoli ed adattandoli a nuove esigenze estetiche e funzionali.
Tra gli oggetti che ho trasformato vi mostro questo vecchio comò in legno massello che la mia famiglia ha ereditato alcuni decenni fa dalla precedente proprietaria della casa al mare dei miei genitori.
E lì è rimasto fino a pochi mesi fa, quando ho deciso che sarebbe potuto star bene a casa mia.
La forma bombata mi piaceva, le maniglie anche, i cassetti capienti mi avrebbero fatto comodo, ma la finitura color legno lo rendeva poco adatto alla mia casa.
Quindi mi sono messa all'opera.
Per prima cosa ho fatto fare in un laboratorio specializzato un trattamento antitarlo al microonde, non tossico perché realizzato senza sostanze chimiche.
Poi ho comprato della pasta di legno all'acqua per sigillare i fori lasciati dagli antipatici insetti e ne ho chiusi buona parte (tutti sarebbe stato impossibile) facendola penetrare con l'aiuto di una piccola spatola.
La fase più faticosa è stata carteggiare accuratamente tutto il mobile per eliminare la vernice trasparente con cui era stato trattato e riportare il legno al naturale. A quel punto non potevo più avere ripensamenti.
Ma ecco finalmente la parte divertente del lavoro: dipingere il comò.
Ho scelto delle delle vernici opache ed all'acqua marca "Les Decoratives" della serie "Tendence cuisine" che vanno applicate in due strati successivi.
Il primo strato "Base" che ho scelto nel color grigio (Taupe) va applicato con il pennello uniformemente e lasciato asciugare per circa quattro ore.
Il secondo strato, (nel mio caso colore "grigio tenero") va applicato e dopo circa dieci minuti, sfregando con una spugna umida, rimosso dove si intende far riaffiorare quello sottostante più scuro.
Per finire, quando tutto era completamente asciutto, ho passato con un panno morbido della cera per mobili in pasta trasparente che gli ha donato un aspetto quasi vellutato.
Devo dire che ora si intona bene con la parete grigia cui è appoggiato ed il risultato mi ha soddisfatto tanto che...seguitemi e scoprirete cos'altro ho fatto.

I liked its rounded shape , even the handles,the larges drawers would have been useful to me but the color of wood finish was ill-suited to my house.
So I started work.
First I brought it in a specialized laboratory for a anti worm in the microwave, non-toxic ,because it is made without chemicals.
So I bought a water-based wood pulp to seal the holes left by unpleasant insects and I closed a lot of them (all would have been impossible) making it penetrate with the help of a small spatula.
The most difficult phase was carefully scrape with sandpaper whole cabinet to remove the varnish with which he was treated and restore the natural wood. At that point I could not have second thoughts.
But finally, here's the fun part of the job: paint the dresser.
I chose the paint opaque and of the "Les Decoratives" series "Tendence cuisine" that should be applied in two coats.
The first layer, "Base" (I chose the color gray Taupe) must be applied with a brush evenly and allowed to dry for about four hours.
The second layer, (in my case soft gray color) is applied and after about ten minutes by rubbing with a damp sponge should be removed where you intend to bring out the underlying color darker.
Finally, when everything was completely dry, I spent with a soft cloth a transparent paste of wax for furniture that has given him an almost velvety look.
I must say that fits in well with the gray wall, and the result has pleased me so much that ... follow me and discover what else I did.
